Defendant Zoe Rosenberg faces felony conspiracy charge in Sonoma County Superior Court case

Petaluma, Calif. — After her defense team noted she felt ‘unwell’ Tuesday and needed to see a medical specialist, Zoe Rosenberg, a controversial animal activist with Direct Action Everywhere (DxE), returned to court today and faced cross-examination from prosecutors, as The People shared damning evidence pointing to a broader conspiracy, spearheaded by Rosenberg, after a series of five break-ins at Petaluma Poultry.
During cross-examination, it was revealed that during the series of break-ins, DxE members formed teams with unique objectives, including a medical team, film & photo crew team, and getaway drivers. Rosenberg revealed she was part of a four-person team, and had her own getaway driver after stealing chickens in June 2023. Rosenberg and her associates all had burner phones, and despite Rosenberg claiming to have just a single contact in her burner phone the night of the theft, under cross-examination, photo evidence revealed numerous group chats with several individuals, which Rosenberg conceded was factual. During her initial testimony Tuesday, it was also revealed that Rosenberg wore an earpiece, and used a fake badge and employee clothing to disguise herself and her team as Petaluma Poultry employees.

Poultry is part of DxE’s ongoing intimidation campaign to eliminate animal agriculture in Sonoma County. The defendant’s reckless actions include:
Breaking into chicken houses under cover of darkness to steal livestock, recklessly jeopardizing biosecurity and animal health.
Accessing company data and privileged information through private computer systems.
Harassing associates and their families at private residences.
Disrupting businesses and restaurants across Northern California.
Petaluma Poultry is a recognized leader in free-range and organic poultry, with farms and facilities subject to rigorous audits and government oversight. The company remains united with its associates and neighbors against these illegal tactics and will continue to defend the region’s food supply, the importance of local agriculture, and the future of responsible animal farming.
