Welcome to Support Our Local Farmers (the “Site,” “we,” “our,” or “us”). Your privacy is important to us, and this Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect your information when you visit or interact with our website, www.supportourlocalfarmers.com (the “Site”).

1. Information We Collect

Personal Information includes information that can be linked to a specific individual, such as a name, address, phone number, or email address. The type of personal information collected by us will vary with your use of the Site. We may collect personal information when you provide it to us, such as when you make a donation or when you request to receive communications from us.

  • Name and Contact Information: We may request your name, email address, phone number, mailing address, and other contact information if you sign up for newsletters, petitions, events, or make donations.

  • Donation Information: Records of your donations, including the dates of transactions and the amounts.  We may also request payment information, such as payment card information and your billing and mailing address when you make a donation. Payment processing is handled securely by third-party providers.  We do not store full payment details.

  • Phone Numbers for Text Communications: If you provide your mobile phone number, you may receive SMS/text messages related to events, campaigns, and updates, as described in Section 2 below.

  • Public Use Consent: If you check the box “Yes, you may use my name publicly on print and digital media,” we will record and store your consent along with your name for use as described in Section 2 below.

  • Non-Personal Information:

    • Browser type, device type, operating system, IP address, and general location (city/state).

    • Pages you visit, time spent on the Site, and referral sources (e.g., links you clicked to reach us).

We collect these categories of Personal Information from the following sources:

  • Directly from you.  For example, the information you provide directly to us or our services providers.

​​

  • Indirectly from you.  For example, the information from devices you use to access the Site; or information that is automatically collected about you by us and our service providers as a result of Your use of the Site, including digital tracking tools such as cookies and similar technology.

Sensitive Personal Information:  We do not collect, nor do we request that you provide any sensitive personal information (e.g., social security number, information related to racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious, philosophical, or other beliefs, health data, biometric or genetic characteristics, specific geolocation, etc.), and you should not disclose to us any sensitive personal information through the Site or otherwise.

2. How We Use Your Information

We may use the Personal Information we collect for any lawful commercial or business purpose, including to:

  • Communicate with you about campaigns, petitions, updates, events, opportunities to get involved and related community activities, such as letter writing campaigns.

  • Send SMS/text messages to notify you of upcoming events, urgent updates, or campaign activities (only if you have provided your phone number and consented to receive SMS/text messages).  We do not charge for our SMS service. However, your wireless service provider may apply package deductions and message / data rates to all SMS messages and rates differ from carrier to carrier. Please contact your wireless service provider to inquire about the details specific to your plan.

  • Process and acknowledge donations.

  • Administer the Site and improve and personalize your experience on the Site.

  • Analyze usage trends and Site performance.

  • Comply with legal obligations.

  • Public Recognition (only if you have provided your consent): If you check the box granting permission, we may use your name in public-facing materials such as press releases, petitions, donor lists, reports, marketing materials, social media posts, or other digital and print communications to recognize your support. We will never display your contact information, payment details, or other personal data without your explicit consent.

We do not use or disclose personal information for profiling in furtherance of decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects on you.

3. Disclosure of Information

We respect your privacy and do not sell or share your Personal Information in exchange for money. We may disclose your Personal Information in the following ways and with the following categories of third parties for business and commercial purposes:

  • Service Providers: Trusted vendors and partners who perform services on our behalf (such as payment processors, email and SMS service providers, or web hosting).

  • Organizational Partners: We may share your name and contact information with aligned community or advocacy organizations, or organizational partners in the farming industry who may communicate with you directly related to their campaigns, petitions, updates, or events. Public Recognition (only if you have provided your consent): If you have given permission, your name may appear in public-facing materials as described above.

  • To protect against misuse or unauthorized use of the Site or as otherwise needed to limit legal liability, protect or defend our rights, property, or interests, or protect the safety, rights, or property of our users.

  • Public Use Consent: You may revoke your consent for public use of your name at any time by contacting us. Once revoked, your name will not be used in future materials, though it may continue to appear in previously published content.

7. Your Rights Regarding Personal Information

Residents of certain states have rights with respect to the Personal Information collected by businesses. If you are a resident of such states, you may be able to exercise the following rights regarding your personal information, subject to certain exceptions and limitations:

Note that we may need to request additional information from you to verify your identity or understand the scope of your request, although you will not be required to create an account with us to submit a request or have it fulfilled. We will require you to provide, at a minimum first name, last name, email address and we may also need to ask for a mailing address and phone number.

  • Authorized Agent. You may designate an authorized agent to make requests on your behalf by verifying your identity and providing signed, written permission to the authorized agent to make the request. Alternatively, an authorized agent with power of attorney can make a request for you.

8. Data Security

We implement reasonable security measures to protect your information. However, no online platform is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee the absolute security of your data.

9. Data Retention

  • We will retain your Personal Information for as long as necessary to fulfill our business purposes and to comply with applicable laws. When determining how long to retain the Personal Information we collect, we evaluate our business needs, business practices, and applicable laws. When we no longer need the Personal Information, we will deidentify, aggregate, or delete this information where required by law.

10. Children’s Privacy

  • This Site is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect Personal Information from children. If we discover such information has been provided, we will promptly delete it.  If you are a parent or guardian and you believe that your child or teen has provided us with Personal Information, please contact us to have such information deleted.
